This activity starts from The Likhubula Forest Office at Mulanje Mountain. However, if you would like transport from your hotel, this can be arranged at an additional cost.

Booking notes

Please note tour times and days may vary. Transport is either self drive or with a driver, which can be organised through The Responsible Safari Company in Blantyre/Lilongwe at an additional cost.

Package includes: All accommodation at lodge and mountain huts, all meals and snacks, all guide and assistant guide(s) fees, all client and administration porters, professional cook, vehicle transfers to/from start/decent points, Park entry, vehicle Entry and MCM guest membership fees. The rate is based on per person sharing. Single supplement is $1,150

Package excludes: All Vehicle transfers to and from Likhubula, bottled water and extra drinks, tipping, toiletries, sleeping bags and items of personal nature.

NB: Trip time and drop off location may change and this will be communicated prior to the trip.

Mulanje Mountain is a stunning self standing mountain in southern Malawi. With warm days and cooler evenings it is ideal for hiking. Mulanje Mountain is well-known for its stunning waterfalls, natural pools and views across southern Malawi.

Itinerary

DAY 1 - Arrive at Likhubula Forest Office and go through a 3D tour orientation. Meet your guide and porter before departing up the mountain. Hiking hours will depend on the route to be taken and your guide will let you know during orientation.

DAY 2 - After breakfast, depart for the next hut and reach there in time for your lunch. Explore the areas surrounding this hut and spend a night there.

DAY 3- After breakfast; proceed upwards to the next hut and experience the beautiful views offered by Mulanje peaks. Enjoy your packed snacks en-route and experience a beautiful sundowner upon arrival.

DAY 4-This day's walk will take you up to Sapitwa peak (3,002m). Enjoy your packed lunch at the highest peak of Sapitwa before descending back to the camping shelter. Please note this is a challenging peak and can be very difficult during the rainy season.

DAYS 5 AND 6 - Explore the other side of Mulanje mountain and take time to internalise the beauty of this beautiful mountain. Enjoy lunch and snacks en-route

DAY 7 - An early wakeup call, descend back to Likhubula Forest Lodge and depart.

Cancellation Policy

If you wish to cancel or amend your booking The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. will make every effort to assist you. Requests for amendment or cancellation must be in writing, and confirmed by the same individual as on the original confirmation. Amendments received and made 60 days before departure will incur an amendment charge of £40 per booking, plus any communication charge or other expenses incurred by The Responsible Safari Company Ltd. If you cancel your booking, the following general scale of cancellation charges will be payable based on the number of days prior to departure that written notice of cancellation is received at our office.

Prior to 84 days forfeiture of deposit

  • 83 - 60 days prior 40% of total Travel price
  • 60 - 30 days prior 75% of total Travel price
  • 29 - 7 days prior 90% of total Travel price
  • Less than 7 days 100% of total Travel price

Children policy

Children who are fit and have done this kind of challenge before are welcome.

Participant Guidelines

Be informed that you will have a local guide and porters with you on your hike. Please bring warm clothes for the evenings. Participants should be at a high fitness level particularly for Sapitwa Peak.
