Ntchisi Forest Lodge is a refurbished old colonial building dating back to 1914. The height of Ntchisi Lodge means there are no mosquitoes and the climate is ideal for a few days spent exploring the area. Days can be spent hiking in the rainforest, walking through local villages or simply gazing out over the hills from the lodge down to Lake Malawi with the mountains of Mozambique sometimes visible on the horizon.

The Lodge is located close to the rainforest and trails for hiking and mountain biking have all been marked out. Truly spectacular scenery and wonderful bird watching from the lodge and the surrounding hills mean that you have the choice to be energetic or simply sit back on the terrace and relax. Other options would be overnight bush camps and Art Classes/ or art holidays that may well extend to wood carving (Tom, the host is a professional artist).

Cultural walks through the surrounding hilltop communities, traditional healer walks in the forest, visiting a brewery and local pottery making are well worth doing. There is a chance to see the challenges and traditional cultures of rural Malawi by taking part in cookery classes and volunteer programs.
