Introducing a brand new festival to celebrate 10 years of the Lake of Stars project!
2013 is the 10 year anniversary of the Lake of Stars project. To mark this milestone we are very pleased to announce City of Stars, a brand new arts festival and conference showcasing the best in emerging and acclaimed talent from Malawi and beyond. Taking place in Lilongwe, Malawi on the 27 and 28 September, City of Stars will feature an eclectic programme of local and international artists, as well as guest speakers. It will promote Malawian culture and creativity and attract international artists and arts practitioners.
We can confirm the first three acts for the festival. They are:

On Thursday 30 May the City of Stars flavour will be coming to Glasgow, at a special free launch event celebrating Malawian and Scottish talent. Come down and join us at the Arches for a night of live music, DJs and poetry. The launch party will be a chance to find out more about how to get involved with City of Stars, whether through attending, performing or volunteering. If you just fancy a chat with any of the festival organisers theyâ•˙ll be on hand to answer your questions. The party will feature the Afro-tinged indie of Edinburgh band Bwani Junction; Malawian-born music legend Rise Kagona, who founded Zimbabwean band the Bhundu Boys; Glasgow-based DJ Auntie Flo, who fuses classic house, disco, techno and electronica alongside afrobeat, kwaito, cumbia, and South American rhythms; and Malawian poet and author John Lwanda.
