Equipment in the rooms not working properly. Very worn bed linen and towels with holes. Lighting very dingy. This is classed as Upmarket in the guide book!

Madidi Lodge advertises itself as an African experience. Whilst the ambience was fine, the restaurant was a great disappointment. The menu was extremely limited and not particularly well cooked. Only one course was offered, but packet soup was reluctantly provided by the cook, as was a fruit dessert.
Again, a computer needs to be provided for guest use. Not everyone lugs a laptop around Africa in their rucksack!
Nanchengwa Lodge is charming, rustic and laid back.
Accommodation was reasonably comfortable but the en suite facilities need updating. The food was limited and only one course served until I asked for a dessert.
Not everyone wants to swim in a lake where the locals wash clothes, defecate on the shoreline and have been warned about Bilharzia, so a swimming pool would be a great asset.
