With only 6 rooms and a family cottage, Norman Carr Cottage retains that small lodge feel and the owner Taffy is always on hand to recommend activities or sit back and recount stories with you about his adventures in Africa. Evening and morning boat trips on the lodge boat Alfie provide wonderful opportunities for snorkelling, swimming, feeding the fish eagles and a perfect platform for sipping Malawi gin and tonic as the sunsets over the lake. While the fishermen set off in their dugouts to search for their nights' catch, dinner is served on the beach with the sound of the waves just metres away. Rooms are designed by the owners and the unique outdoor bathrooms and huge double beds make guests feel thoroughly spoilt!

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
The Norman Carr Cottage work really well with the local community, both through employment and in providing local craftsmen with an area to sell their goods. The house of the chief is regularly maintained by the Norman Carr team. They have previously fundraised to provide the village with a media centre, located just at the entrance to Norman Carr.
